A call for help!
19th August 2008

I’m sure we have all known someone who has had to battle cancer at some point in their lives. I know of many, and so do my friends. In fact cancer affects 1 in 3, a statistic which is sadly higher than it once was.

Charlotte, a friend of mine contacted me the other day. This is what she wrote:

“I am currently sat in Albir, Spain overlooking the Matahorn of the Costa Blanca, Sierra Bernia!

On Wednesday 20th August my husband, Nick and his mother, Maggie intend to walk from sea level up to the summit of the mountain, around to peak and then descend back to sea level for a much deserved pint...of water!!

This is no mean feat!  Normally people would walk from around 2/3rd's of the way up the mountain, but to earn their sponsor money they are starting at sea level.

Why do you want to know this I hear you ask??  Well, they are doing it to raise money for
Cancer Research UK - a charity close to many of our hearts especially our family as we have lost
2 family members and a close friend over the last 18 months to Cancer.

We would be ETERNALLLY grateful for whatever you can give!

We will of course post pictures after the event!”

I hope to have some pictures sent to me to add to the blog, and if any of my readers would be willing to help out by donating and spreading the word it would be greatly appreciated by both myself, and of course Charlotte and her family.

I know how hard it is to raise money so I wish them all the best in this immense effort!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way
to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer,
Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
